High precision small turned parts on the sliding head lathe

7 axis sliding head lathe now installed

It took a while to learn the new programming system but our latest machine is up and running in the newly decorated workshop extension. With two heads and multiple different tools it makes miniature turned or turn/mill parts completed without having to remove and re-set. The bar feeder is to the left which feeds new bars without operator intervention. To the right is a small conveyor belt which holds the part temporarily for inspection before dropping into the parts collection tray. The machine can make parts from .5mm in diameter to 22mm with a repeatable accuracy of around 10μm.
